12th Annual Sports day celebration
The 12th Annual Sports day celebration of Lalaji Memorial Omega International School, Omega Olympiad was held on 9th January 2017 at the school premises. While the celebration of the primary classes (I to V) was held in the morning from 8 to 11.30 am with the Chief Guest as the school’s Correspondent Shri. S. Ramakrishnan, the senior school’s (VI to XII) celebration was held in the evening between 2 .30 to 5.30 pm with Dr. J. Glory Darling Margaret, Assistant Professor, YMCA College of Physical Education as the Chief guest.
The main attraction of the day was the March Past by the students of both the junior and senior classes who have been divided into 4 kutumbas- Atri, Gautama, Vasishta and Kashyapa. Both the Chief guests appreciated the students for their enthusiasm and urged the parents to encourage the children to take part in Sports events.
While the junior kids showed their sporting spirits through acrobatic exercises which were done in a fun way and through lezims and other colourful props, the senior students showed their mettle and dexterity through yoga and pyramids.
The senior school students performed a tableau to bring out the origin of the ancient Olympic Games and to express how the flame lit by Zeus has instilled sportsman spirit in the students.
The day also witnessed some exciting, nail –biting athletic events which further showed the students’ speed, stamina, skill, and their spirit of coordination and cooperation.
The sports achievers of the academic year 2016-17 were given trophies and prizes and it is noteworthy to mention that Anushya of 12C was the recipient of the Desikan Memorial endowment award for the year and received a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 for the same.
