Physical education is an integral part of the education process and is aimed towards the overall development of individuals – physical, mental, emotional and social aspects. This is achieved through the medium of physical activities that have been selected with a view of realizing its outcomes.
Apart from learning about the physical aspects of a human body – strength, endurance, fitness and health, education through systematic instructions or training for particular tasks are undertaken. This is necessary the for development and maintenance of human body or the development of physical powers or activities for cultivating physical skills.
The Physical Education program at Omega International School is balanced and provides each student with an opportunity to develop into a physically-educated person; one who learns skills necessary to perform a variety of physical activities, is physically fit, participates regularly in physical activity and understands the benefits of involvement in the physical activity and its contributions to a healthy lifestyle.
At Omega we believe that every child must possess a healthy mind; and to have a healthy mind one must have a healthy physique. This contributes to a healthy society.
The Department of Physical Education is structured in such a way that it caters to the development of physically sound individuals right from Nursery school.
We help students develop physical skills and confidence. For example, Kindergarten and Primary school curriculum includes activities that help children obtain and improve skills such as running, catching, throwing, striking and social skills, applicable to sports such as basketball, football, or cricket. Secondary and Senior Secondary curriculum focuses on lifetime sport skills with a secondary emphasis on team sports. It prepares students to become highly proficient in one or more sport and/or fitness activity of their choice.
The PE classes for students of Kindergarten and Grades I to VIII are conducted through our collaborative partner, EduSports, which aims for holistic education through sports.
The curriculum followed is:
